About Me
Researcher. Storyteller. Organiser. Teacher.
I am a writer and educator based at SOAS, University of London, where I explore the intersections of empire, capitalism, gender, race, sexuality and how these forces continue to shape contemporary life.
At SOAS, I teach across gender studies and global politics. I convene the online MA in Gender, Sexuality and Global Politics, working with students around the world to think through urgent questions of power, inequality, resistance, and social change. I have also designed and taught courses including Gender Theory, Queer Politics, Postcolonial Theory and Law, Queering Migrations and Diasporas, and Gender and Social Inequality.
My research and teaching are guided by a core question: how are inequalities reproduced, and how are they challenged and resisted in different contexts? My doctoral research, Between Assimilation and Refusal: A Queer Marxist Analysis of Visibility Politics, traced how queer of colour existence in London navigates the tensions between assimilation and refusal. My next research project examines the rise of far-right politics, with a particular interest in understanding why people are seduced by them.
I am always open to conversations and collaborations with scholars, students, and activists interested in questions of gender, sexuality, race, and political economy. The personal is political, and everything I do in research, writing, and teaching is inspired by this conviction.
